  4. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
  5.  
  6. - Choose the Windows 95 installation wizard from Control Panel/Add New
  7.   Hardware - When being requested to start the "search new Hardware" process,
  8.   select "No" and proceed with the installation.
  9. - Install the sound board as "Audio, Video and Game Controller".
  10. - Choose the installation from Disk and the desired Device to be installed
  11.   (we recommend that the Wave & OPL device is the first device to be
  12.   installed).
  13. - Always confirm your selections by clicking "Next".
  14. - Now, all the necessary files are copied to your hard drive due to the
  15.   selections you made.
  16. - In general: After every device installation Windows 95 will prompt you to
  17.   shut down and restart your computer. This is necessary to activate the
  18.   desired features.

  21. TIPS & TRICKS:
  22. - Please use the "miroSOUND DOS-Config" tool to configure the Game Port
  23.   parameters for sndindos.exe to ensure the correct settings BEFORE any
  24.   Windows 95 driver is activated. On some machines, the MPU-401 must be
  25.   adjusted in the same way.
  26. - On some systems with several additional boards using interrupts Windows
  27.   95 has problems to find out free interrupts for our board. This results
  28.   in device-conflicts reported by Windows 95. We integrated the
  29.   "shared-interrupt" feature to our Wave and OPL driver. Please use the
  30.   following Windows 95 mechanism to select another configuration:
  31.                 Control Panel->System->Device Manager->(Select the driver)
  32.                 ->Properties->Resources->Basic configuration XX
  33.   You just have to find out the right "basic configuration" that uses
  34.   "shared-interrupt". That means: Select another basic configuration that
  35.   ocupies just one interrupt - interrupt 10 is a good choice. Use the
  36.   list-box above the basic-configuration drop-down to check it out.
  37. - Type "sndindos.exe /C" at the MS-DOS prompt to start sndindos for
  38.   configuration in MS-DOS mode. This feature avoids the use of Windows 95
  39.   configuration for MS-DOS - so you may configure it from MS-DOS for
  40.   MS-DOS (see chapter "TOOLS/MS-DOS-Configuration" for the opposite
  41.   Windows-tool).
  42. - The tool SELCDDOS.EXE (or IDECDDOS.EXE for FM10) is useful for the con-
  43.   figuration of the CDSETUP.SYS entry without having to start Windows 95.
  44.   (see chapter "TOOLS/MS-DOS-Configuration" for the opposite Windows-tool).
  45.   After a full installation the SELCDDOS.EXE or IDECDDOS.EXE is copied to
  46.   the directory:
  47.             <<Windows95>>\miro\sound
  48. - Some Plug-And-Play main boards may have problems in disabling their
  49.   onboard game controller. This may result in a resource conflict after
  50.   the sound driver has been installed because the base address must be in the
  51.   I/O-range of 200h-207h. An indicator for this problem is an "Unknown
  52.   device" that Windows 95 will detect after the Windows 95 instal-
  53.   lation (use Control Panel to check). This is a bug of the main board.
  54. - On some main boards problems with Duke Nukem 3D playing in the MS-DOS box
  55.   (windowed and full-sized) were detected. They result in strange hang-ups
  56.   and/or interrupt service crashes. Work under MS-DOS to avoid this.
  57.   We took the demo pre-release - maybe it's fixed in the final version of
  58.   Duke Nukem 3D.

  61. TOOLS/MS-DOS-Configuration:

  63. - miroSOUND DOS-CD-ROM Config:
  64.   This tool simplifies setting the parameters for the
  65.   cdsetup.sys CD-ROM interface driver in the CONFIG.SYS-file. The cdsetup.sys
  66.   enables the CD-ROM-interfaces, but it's not a full driver. Please refer
  67.   to your CD-ROM manuals for information on the correct installation
  68.   of your CD-ROM driver software.
  69.   The default parameters for Interrupt, DMA and IO have always the same
  70.   default values. miroSOUND DOS-CD-ROM Config does not read the actual
  71.   configuration in your config.sys.
  72.   Please use miroSOUND DOS-CD-ROM Config to change settings for the cdsetup.sys
  73.   in case of problems and for the first time you need it, because the
  74.   installation process does not make any entries into the CONFIG.SYS.
  75.   Please refer to the manuals shipped with your CD-ROM to get some information
  76.   on the parameters for your CD-ROM driver that might be necessary to
  77.   alter for trouble-shooting. If you'd like to change the settings in
  78.   CONFIG.SYS yourself, note that cdsetup.sys must be called before any
  79.   CD-ROM device driver can operate. See below for options of cdsetup.sys.
  80. - miroSOUND DOS Config:
  81.   This tool configures the initialization software sndindos.exe for MS-DOS,
  82.   that is put into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Take miroSOUND DOS-Config windows 
  83.   tool to solve configuration problems under MS-DOS.

  85. - In general:
  86.   If you have got any problems with the device drivers under Windows  95,
  87.   please refer to the Windows 95-Online Help for Trouble-Shooting.

  90. OPTIONS FOR cdsetup.sys:
  91.  
  92. The file CDSETUP.SYS will be copied by the installer into the root directory
  93. of the current drive. This file must configured manually or with
  94. miroSOUND DOS-CDROM Config, as it is beyond the scope of the miro installer
  95. to configure all the possibilities.  When a PCM12  or PCM1 (non PnP) board
  96. is used then the CDSETUP.SYS may be configured for IDE, Sony, Panasonic or
  97. Mitsumi drives.  It is up to the user to ensure that no resource conflicts
  98. occur.

  100. If a PCM12 (PnP) or PCM20 is installed in a non PnP system then only an IDE
  101. CD should be configured.  In a PnP system the resources are decided by the
  102. PnP Bios and therefore no driver is required.

  121. Note !!  In a PnP system a resource conflict may occur when using Sony,
  122. Panasonic or Mitsumi.  These are manually configured, and PnP may have already
  123. assigned the Address or interrupt for some other device.
